Vedvyas



Vedvyas is situated near the confluence of rivers Shankha, Koel and Saraswati rivers which,  together form the Brahmani river. 

This location in Rourkela is named after the great sage Vedvyas- the man behind the composition of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. The pilgrimage site has a beauty of its own. It is believed that in the Vyasa cave, the great sage sat and wrote Mahabharat.

However, due to natural disasters, the entrance of the cave is blocked and only see the remains. Thousands of devotees visit this pilgrimage site every year to experience the peaceful ambience of this temple. The gathering of devotees increases during the Hindu festival "Shiva Ratri" & "Kartik Purnima". The god and goddesses temple worshipped in Vedvyas includes Shiv temple, Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra temple, Radha Krishna temple, and Saraswati's kund. Inside the compound in one of the temples, kirtan is continuously played during the twelve months in a year and never stops. So, if you are planning to visit the Sundargarh district in Odisha, do not forget to visit this incredible spiritual place located on the banks of the Brahmani river.
