Concept and types of well-being in different aspects of life

We all talk about staying well and one should be focusing on one's well-being every now and then. Several thoughts and questions pop up in our head in an instance, like what is well-being, how it is relevant in our lives and what are the aspects of well-being? So, let me share some views about well-being in order to understand the term within a few minutes. Referring to the definition of well-being from the Oxford English Dictionary refers to "the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy."

Therefore, the types and aspects on which well-being are dependent on one's emotional, psychological, social, and mental well-being.

Emotional well-being is one of the important aspects of well-being that focuses on improving the thought processes about how we feel and think. Breaking it into simpler form emotions refers to the subjective state of mind hence, emotions refer to the internal stimuli or the sequence of events that takes place in the environment around us. However, we should not get ourselves confused about the terms feelings and emotions as prior relates to the bodily reactions while the latter is the experience of our conscious state of mind. Some of the strongest emotions include fear, joy, contempt, disgust, excitement, sadness, excitement, guilt, and interest.

Psychological well-being refers to the positive mental state of any individual in terms of self-satisfaction, feelings of happiness or different kinds of emotions. Psychological well-being is further categorised into two sections such as Hedonic well-being and Eudaimonic well-being.

At the time being able to take the right decisions will be beneficial for bringing clarity about the problems/situations encountered for determining, therefore, being psychological well and being content with the works carried out by them in the most difficult situations

Social well-being is another important type of well-being which plays an important role as it is emphasized on the social structures such as the stable arrangements of institutions within which human beings stay and interact in society. Hence, this refers to the sense of belonging to a community and contribution to society. Therefore, social well-being is important for every generation for adapting themselves with the positive practices as well as attitudes for implementing changes which will be capable of leading to make positive changes.

Mental well-being as defined by the World Health Organization describes as the state of well-being in which an individual realises her or his abilities and can cope up with the normal stresses of life, make a contribution to the community as well as, work in a productive manner. Mental well-being is necessary in order to achieve the purpose of life, self-acceptance, personal growth, and environmental mastery in a positive manner. Therefore, maintaining good mental health will increase the clarity in one’s thought process, spontaneous decision making of the individuals, setting goals and achieving the same, maintaining good self-esteem and overcoming difficulties in confident manner.
